Catching Up

May 29, 2011
I went to my first Area Conference. President Cook let me attend. I got to see my members from San Juan Capistrano. All of them were surprised at seeing me there. I had the privilege to attend the San Diego Temple. I loved it and wished to stay there. I felt the Spirit so strong. On May 27th I attended a zone conference in Oceanside. We listened to a talk given at the MTC by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland in January 2011. I am very grateful we have leaders that guide us and the priesthood is on the earth. The Book of Mormon should be delightful to us, and we should be willing to share it with everyone. We had a baptism on May 28th. It felt awesome. We sang Asembro me da Hymn #118 ("I Stand All Amazed"). I love my Redeemer Jesus Christ! I am six months out this month; five months in the mission field. It's been a great blessing, privilege, and a rewarding challenge.

June 28, 2011
I love it when people who are my friends encourage me to be a good missionary. It has not been easy like I thought, but it is completely worth it. I am trying to be the best example to everyone especially my sibling and members from the church. Actually it is when I have felt very sad Heavenly Father has sent me to someone who he wants me to help. On June 22nd, we got an unexpected call that said my new companion and I were leaving our apartment. I had my MTC companion for a week not we are a Trio. I am now at my 4th apartment and 5th companion.

July 5, 2011
I moved to a new apartment. Emergency transfer. So now I am a Trio since a week and a half. It's been great. The two sisters are awesome. We have two areas. We are mostly at Oceanside then Carlsbad. This week we got interviews with President Cook. I love that he knows how to listen and makes me realize I am doing a good job.

When you are serving the Lord you have peace, joy and I feel love. My companions are Hnas Hamilton and Russell. The Book of Mormon is delightful. Every day I get the chance to learn something new. Transfers are coming up on July 26th. Serving the Lord is a privilege; brings me joy and I know I would not trade it for anything even when it is hard.

"A missionary is someone who leaves their family for a short time so others can spend eternity with theirs."

May 10, 2011

I got transfered from San Juan Capistrano. I loved being a missionary there. I am now in what is called "My second area." Carlsbad, CA is a nice place. I am in a new district and am working on adapting to my new area. I no longer have Hna Barnes as my companion.  Now I have Hna Packham. She is from Oregon. We live in a nice apartment in Avenida Magnifica. Love you all. Thanks for your letters.

"Almost 4 months and time is flying over here."

April 25, 2011

I am no longer a companion to Hna Barnes. I think I am getting transferred from San Juan Capistrano, California. It is my time to go somewhere else. We will have 3 baptisms on April 28, 2011. Three amazing young women. On April 26, 2011 we will be having a Mission Wide Zone Conference. L. Tom Perry is coming to speak to 400 missionaries from the San Diego and Carlsbad missions. Isabell S. is an amazing woman and member. She is my miracle. She is very strong in the Gospel. She can't see but knows the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Church are back on the Earth. How is everyone?

"We need more valiant missionaries out in the field."

April 12, 2011

My mission seems to get easier each day. I'm no longer a greeny! I'm still in San Juan Capistrano. My trainer Hna Reyes ended her mission on April 11th. I now have Hna Barnes as my new companion. Esta Hna es a great missionary! She loves Mexican food and Chinese food. This means we are going to a Chinese buffet hopefully some day. It's so different now as I know where I am at and how to get to places on time. I'm very excited to see more miracles in this area. Members are happy this area will not be closing. I need to trust the Lord as much as He trusted me. Lessons are getting better. I'm becoming a well prepared teacher as well as a missionary. I love my mission. We need more valiant missionaries out in the field. If you don't you are more likely to not get to know those people who the Lord needs you to find, teach and baptise.

"Never get discouraged, the Lord is on our side."

March 22, 2011

My mission is fabulous. Life is good. I am glad we have the truth, and know the Gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored again on the Earth. My 1st baptism was amazing. She does not see but has great faith. Nothing stopped her from getting baptised. Sister Reyes is leaving in less than 3 weeks so I am in the middle of a transfer. That means where I am at they can close the area, send Elders, or leave me here. Tracting is fun. We get to meet so many new people with different points of view. We have 3 new investigators this week. One investigator, an amazing girl, dropped us. We are sad, but hope someday she will accept the Gospel. I love the members in Yuma, and miss them. Thank you to all of you who are praying for me.

"I am almost 2 months on my mission"

Hey Everyone! I am having a blast. Things are going awesome!!! And I am doing much better. We have an amazing Mission President. He takes care of us. The days go by fast. I am almost 2 meses (months) on my mission. The members here are very nice people and give us so many good things to eat. I am still loving my mission. The only thing I am sad about is that I have not heard from the many people that promised they would write me. As missionaries, we really need the support from family, members, and friends. Thank you to the friends that have written me. I heard Bishop Noble is no longer Bishop of 2nd Ward. I will miss him. He is my favorite. He helped me a lot through my teenage years.

Yuma 2nd Ward Missionary Report

Sister Rosa Ortiz is enjoying her mission to the fullest! She is working in the San Clemente, CA mission, with her hardworking companion. She states that "sharing the gospel to people is not about time but it's about effort." She sends appreciation to all the members of the ward and branch. She encourages each of us to not let an OYM (Open Your Mouth) pass when we have the opportunity.

"Missionary work is one of the greatest ways to help Heavenly Father in His work."

February 16, 2011

My mission is Super Amazing!!!  I am in San Clemente, CA.  This is a great area to be in.  Missionary work is one of the greatest ways to help Heavenly Father in His work!!!  We have found 3 investigators, and the members love feeding us.  My companion is always laughing at me for loving the food so much.  We have 2 baptisms coming up on February 27th, 2011, and they apparently are related to me some how. I'm excited to hear them talk to my parents!!  My companion is my trainer, and this was her last transfer, therefore we are working super hard. I love la obra missions (the missionary work). I'm very blessed to be here, and I can't wait to hear from all of you.  Also, I spoke at Sacrament meeting in San Juan Capistrano, CA.  It is a gorgeous city, lots of tourism, and is also one of the best areas on our mission.  The Lord really does answer prayers, and I know this is my place to be at this time.  Sorry it took me a while to send my address, we have no time, and P-day went super fast. I'm on my way to a lesson, and then I'll let all of you see some pictures.  Hermana Reyes is such an awesome trainer!!  Always smile because life is beautiful.

Update from the MTC

Sister Ortiz was residing at the MTC prior to her departure to Carlsbad, California on February 9th. She had not been assigned a sister companion yet so she had been in a trio. However, she is filled with the spirit and shared that this has been one of the best decisions she has ever made. She loves the gospel. She is excited to be reporting to her mission area. She sends her love to you all.
